We were over at The Ribbon Retreat last week and shared these adorable barefoot sandals! These are so easy and inexpensive-and seriously cute : ) We’ve got a quick video tutorial and a step by step photo tutorial!!
Here’s what you need:
T-shirt (old or new)
felt circles (1 3/4 inch size)
flowers of your choice
sewing machine
glue gun
We’ll start with the T-shirt. First, cut off the hem along the bottom of the shirt and discard; then cutting through both layers, cut a strip about 1 inch wide.
It will be a circle since we cut through the entire shirt, so cut it at the seam
to get one long strip. Now stretch the strip and the T-shirt will curl itself.
Cut the strip into about 5 or 6 inch lengths, depending on the age and size of the childs foot. The fabric is very stretchy, so a little tight is better than too loose. (Mine are for my 2 1/2 year old.)
Cut 3 strips per sandal, so 6 strips for one pair.
Once the strips are cut, you’re ready to sew!
Sew one end of the strips onto to a felt circle. I found it easiest to add them one at a time as I went. I am not much of a seamstress, but these are very simple to sew, no kidding. 🙂
Then loop the strips over and sew the other ends onto the opposite side of the felt.
It should look like this!
Remember how I mentioned I am not a seamstress? Proof right here, but it doesn’t even matter because those crooked stitches won’t show : )
Hot glue the flower of your choice to the felt circle. (I chose the crochet flowers in turquoise.)
They are ready to adorn a cute little foot!
How to put them on:
Slip the whole thing over the foot with the flower on top,
then pull one strap up behind the ankle. Cute!
Wouldn’t these be perfect for a Spring photo shoot?!
