Gratitude Jars & Plaque

There’s a bonus to this craft too - it can be used for every holiday and season!

Supply list:  

(All from the Wood Connection)

Wood plaque

Jars 

Candlesticks

Wood stain

Foam brushes

Paper and phrase

Mini clothespin

Also needed:

White or cream spray paint

Nail file

Start by staining all the wood pieces.

Once the stain is completely dry, spray paint each piece.

Spray painting tip:  Elevate each piece using cut toilet paper rolls.  This makes it easier to paint all the sides and prevents them from sticking.  

After the paint is dry, assemble the candy jars.  See a step by step tutorial HERE.

Using a sanding block or nail file, sand along all the edges. The dark stain will show through and give it that perfect shabby look.

For our phrase we used this vinyl from the Wood Connection and just attached it to a piece of  orange paper.  We used some Washi Tape as a border to finish it off.

Here’s what makes this project so versatile!  Just glue the mini clothespin onto the plaque for easy change ups!  We covered our clothespin with a little strip of Washi tape.

This way the phrase or picture clips right to the plaque and is super easy to switch out!

Now for the Thankful Jar!  

Cut some strips of Fall paper; then throughout the month of November everyone in the family can write things their thankful for and add them to one of the jars. 

On Thanksgiving Day, pull all the strips out and read all the things we have to be thankful for.  (We filled the other jar with some fake leaves from the Dollar Store.)

    

Just for fun:  Here’s a Christmas version!  Can you picture tiny ornaments in the jars?  Or peppermints?  Or any Christmas colored candies?  So fun!
