Craft hoarding pays off again!! I have kept this giant box that our Ikea Poang Chair came in because it was perfectly square, and about 3 inches wide/tall. It was going to become a wall hanging of some sort, but then I found it’s true calling!
Trees! Free trees!
I just grabbed a ruler and started drawing tall skinny triangles on my box.
I used a box cutter to cut them out.
I hot glued a square of burlap onto the trunk of each tree.
More hoarding: these are the leftovers from my sweater stockings. I just knew they would be useful somehow.
I hot glued the sweater piece in a few spots on the front,
then flipped it over, cut to size, wrapped and glued.
That’s it!
They were FREE!
And they finish my shelves perfectly!
I am quite smitten by them.
I scored the HO HO HO’s at the DI (Utah Thrift store) for $3.00 a couple years ago and this is the first year I have come up with a great place for them.
Decorating for free is the best! Especially when it will only be up for a month. What do you think? Are you ready to craft hoard just a bit?
I’ve got another project using cardboard I’ll be sharing soon, the same box even.
So worth holding on to. : )
Have a great weekend!
*UPDATE*- We showed this project along with our DIY Santa Bags on Channel 2’s Fresh Living. See the segment HERE. We had a blast!

Thanks Sarah! Our trees simply lean against the wall.
Cute! How do you get them to stand up?
