This was my parents dresser for as long as I can remember. They were ready to get rid of it and I couldn’t just let this perfectly good piece of furniture that I had known since forever slip away! Call it sentimental or call it hoarding, I’m good with either. 🙂 It has had quite the journey to get to this point, but that’s for another day. We’ll be sharing where the rest of the dresser is pretty soon. Today we’re just showing how we have re-purposed one drawer!
I started by sanding it, then gave it two coats of white paint. Inside and out. I bought 4 legs from the Home Depot and the brackets that they screw into. My husband added a piece of wood to the bottom on both ends to stabilize it. Then we screwed on the brackets, and the legs just twist into it.
Next, I painted the legs and sanded a bit on the edges.
Using a q tip I put some dark glaze on all the sanded edges,
then I wiped off the glaze with some cheesecloth. An old rag would be just fine too.
I also glazed around the edges of the dresser and in the seashell detail in the middle.
I kept the original handles, with their original gold color.
This serves as a little nightstand between my older girls beds. It’s so functional and unique!
Can’t wait to share what we’ve done with the rest of the dresser! It’s missing at least one drawer…you can probably guess it’s not a dresser anymore.
If you missed the chevron curtains, you can see that post HERE.
Have an awesome day!
