We are so excited about these cute little shelves! They are doll chairs from the Wood Connection! Steff and I thought they would be darling hung in my littlest girls bedroom; we were right. They look so cute! This post is also being featured over at The Wood Connections blog. Be sure to check it out and browse around their blog for lots of other awesome Wood Connection projects!
On with the tutorial! : )
Wood Connection Supplies:
doll chairs
wood cut outs of choice
frame overlay
stain
wood glue
paper
foam brushes
paint
Here’s how the doll chairs come-all gorgeous and unfinished.
We used the Minwax Wood Sheen rubbing stain in Colonial Walnut.
It’s AMAZING stuff! And it’s beautiful! (Check out our junk table makeover using this stain HERE.) We love how it brought out the wood grain on these chairs. Use a foam brush to paint on 1-3 coats, until it’s the color you want. We just did one coat on these.
To decorate our shelves, we also picked up an owl, bird and flower along with some cute paper.
Start by tracing the wood then cut out the traced shape.
Paint the outside edges and the back of the wood cutouts.
Then spread wood glue on the wood shape and attach the paper.
If you’d like, use a nail file to sand around the edges a bit.
Repeat for the wings and the other wood cut outs. Use wood glue to attach all the pieces.
With my husbands help, we just screwed the chairs right to the wall.
(Be sure to use anchors or find the studs in the wall.)
Cute!
To add a little extra touch, we made a Washi tape banner and hung it using pushpins. We also hot glued a little resin flower I had laying around to the pushpin.
For the last little extra touch we used a Dollar Store picture frame and a frame overlay.
The Wood Connection has these cute little frame overlays. They are adorable stacked on top of the fun shaped frames, but it worked perfectly hot glued to our Dollar Store frame too. We put a piece of scrap fabric in the frame.
These little re-purposed doll chairs add some unexpected charm to my girls bedroom.
We love them!
We post for the Wood Connection frequently enough that you probably know what’s coming next…..

Laura,
We are so glad you like them. I would suggest a local craft store. You wouldn’t have to use doll chairs. We have used kid chairs in the past and they work out great! I hope this helps.
any suggestion why can i get these adorable doll chairs since they are not available on line for purchase
