We’re a day late for Transformation Tuesday, so it’s Transformation Wednesday today! It’s my kids last week of school so we’ve been busy with final school projects, class activities and talent shows. Things may get a little unpredictable around here with summer. Last week we showed my $150 Kitchen Makeover. Check it out HERE if you missed it. Basically, my kitchen used to look like this:
Huge improvement! Part of the change included painting this hutch.
I used all the same steps and supplies as I did with the cabinets, except for the bead board I added to the hutch. It’s not real bead board - it’s bead board wallpaper! Not a soul who has seen this hutch would have ever thought it wasn’t real bead board. It looks so good! Best trick we have in our DIY bag! It goes on just like wallpaper and just trim it to fit. See our post with a video tutorial HERE on how to apply wallpaper. I bought this bead board wallpaper at Lowe’s. It’s pretty inexpensive, so easy to apply and seriously looks amazing when it’s done. I painted it and sealed it with the rest of the hutch.
To finish it off, I spray painted the hinges and handles with this amazing Rustoleum spray paint. I love this stuff! I’ve used it for dozens of projects.
I am so happy to say there is no honey yellow oak to be seen! Well, except for all the bathroom cabinets….we’ll get to those.:) The kitchen though, is yellow oak free! It’s brighter and happier!
