It’s Red Ribbon Week at my kids school which means every day has a fun theme for the kids to wear. I love these kinds of things, despite what it adds to my ‘to-do’ list for the kids to participate. Yesterday was Superhero day. Ivie has a Spider man comic shirt— perfect! Lila fits in a Super girl costume we dug out of the costume bin—perfect! Anni had a plain white t-shirt—perfect…..to turn into a Superman shirt! We figured this out the night before….literally. It really only took about 30 minutes too! I thought this might be great to share with Halloween right around the corner. Last minute costume ideas can be a life saver sometimes!
Step 1: Find and print a superman logo.
Step 2: Cut out along all the black lines, inside and out.
Step 3: Trace the logo onto red felt, face down to avoid black marks on the finished product.
Step 4: Cut out the felt logo.
Step 5: Hot glue the red logo onto some yellow fabric, or felt. I happened to have a cut up yellow t-shirt that we glued ours onto.
Step 6: Cut out and hot glue the whole piece onto a piece of black felt. This will make it more stable and also outline the logo perfectly.
Step 7: Attach to a shirt. Since we were literally last minute here, we just safety pinned the logo to the shirt. Liquid Stitch would be the best choice for this whole project for a more permanent shirt, but for a last minute costume or special occasion use, hot glue is a gals best friend.
We have had Red day, Super hero day, and Mis-match/backwards day. We still have Sports day and of course Crazy hair day- always a crowd pleaser. 🙂 I’ve got some crazy hair researching to do!
Linking up to some of these parties:
That’s awesome William! Hope it turned out great!
I’ll be working on my own Superboy type costume, so this is an idea 🙂
My kids stress me out with those last minute school costume needs too! This is a great idea, I’m pinning it for future costume emergencies! 🙂
