If you are visiting from KUTV, WELCOME! We are happy you’re here!
We were contacted by KUTV to help find an inexpensive way to use light therapy and get some more light in our lives during the winter months. Winter is colder (obviously) and darker than the rest of the year which causes many of us to feel more sluggish, unmotivated, and even depressed. We’re talking about the Winter Blues, and in some cases Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD.) Studies have shown exposure to light can help treat the Winter Blues or SAD. After doing some research of our own, we found this light from ButterNutrition.com (HERE.) It’s the best Happy Light DIY out there, and for less than $20- you can’t go wrong! Plus there are no tools necessary!
Here’s all you need to make your own Happy Light for less than $20:
All you do is twist the bulb into the brooder light,
and attach the wire cover that comes with it.
We love the industrial look of the light.
Now just find a good place to mount or set the light in your home and incorporate it into your daily routine. Maybe expose the light to your skin while eating breakfast, putting on makeup, or watching TV. Just 15 - 30 minutes a day could work wonders for beating those winter blues. 🙂 (One last tip, do not look directly into the light; it could be harmful to your eyes.)
