My hubby and I have been saying “You’re my favorite” since we were a thing. Awwwww - so sweet. 😉 So this quote is pretty much my most favorite of all time in the history of ever for my bedroom, it’s just perfect. I picked up this old barn shutter years ago at an actual barn sale, it’s been kicking around my house with no real purpose until now! I finally busted out some vinyl and my paint pen and got this thing done! Since my phrase was much larger than 12 by 12, which is the size of my Silhouette cutting mat, I found a quick tutorial for cutting vinyl without a mat. Did you know you can do that?! That meant I could easily cut my phrase all in one rather than have to piece it together. YES! THIS is the tutorial I found most helpful.
I typed the phrase in a font I like, loaded my vinyl (according to the tutorial noted above,) and cut.
I was so excited it worked! Cutting on this 12 by 24 piece of vinyl totally made the project possible. I lined it up and stuck it to my barn wood. I made sure to press the vinyl down around each letter to get nice clean lines.
Then I used a black paint marker to color in the letters. Paint markers are amazing!
Once it was dry, I just peeled off the vinyl.
I meant to have the hinges on the top, but didn’t notice I stuck the vinyl on upside down until it was too late. Dang! And, oh well. I seem to get a little less careful when I’m excited about a project.
It looks just perfect up on the shelf! (We have a tutorial for this board and batten wall HERE.) It might be one of my most favorite projects in the history of ever. 😉
