Hey friends! Remember us? We sometimes blog about craft projects and junk - ha ha! But seriously, it’s been a solid month since we got some good stuff up on the blog. Life has just been crazy and busy, but we’ve got some exciting things coming! We are thrilled to be taking on a fun new opportunity with The Wood Connection! We’ll be teaching classes there every month, starting……today! Each month, we’ll be choosing a project from them and teaching/hosting a class at two of their Utah locations, Murray and American Fork. If you can’t come to a class, we’ll also have kits available for purchase, so be sure to watch for our future classes. If you are signed up, we can’t wait to see you! If you are not signed up, no worries! We’re sharing the tutorial for this months craft night project today- a cute Valentine sign and ‘Hershey’s kiss.’
Here’s what you need from The Wood Connection:
- Slat sign
- ‘Kissing booth’ vinyl
- Large ‘Hershey’s kiss’ and ‘kisses’ vinyl
- Red, silver, brown and white paint
- Red glitter (optional)
- Wood glue
You will also need a piece of household aluminum foil to wrap around the ‘kiss.’
How to make the sign
Step 1: Paint the entire slat sign silver. Let dry and do a second coat. Let dry.
Step 2: Peel the blue backing off of the vinyl and place the vinyl words on the slat sign. Use a vinyl applicator or credit card to press the vinyl down really well. Then carefully peel up the transfer tape leaving the vinyl words on the sign.
Step 3: Paint red over the whole sign. Let dry.
Step 4: Peel off the vinyl revealing the silver underneath.
How to make the ‘kiss’
Step 1: Put some painters tape on the tag of the ‘kiss’ to make a clean line between the white and brown paint. Paint the top half of the ‘kiss’ brown.
Step 2: While the brown paint dries, paint the little heart red and let dry. Optional: paint the red heart with a coat of glue and sprinkle glitter over it. To seal the glitter, spray it with a coat of clear polyurethane sealer.
Step 3: Put painters tape on the brown side and paint the tag white.
Step 4: Apply the ‘kisses’ vinyl to the white tag.
Step 5: Wrap a piece of household aluminum foil around the kiss shaping it however you like in the front.
Step 6: Use wood glue to attach the red heart.
Display the two together for some adorable Valentine decor!
