St. Patrick’s Day Leprechaun and Block craft from the Wood Connection
As soon as we heard this saying, we loved it! It’s just the cutest St. Patrick’s Day wish ever; so we went ahead and paired with the cutest Leprechaun ever, and now love it even more. We are so excited to have this on display for St. Patty’s Day! This is a fun and easy craft-we’ll show you step by step how to finish it up.
What’s in your kit:
- Wood block
- 8×8 print
- Leprechaun
- Green paper
- Black paper strip
- Gems for eyes
- Green paint
- Orange paint
- Peach paint
- Brushes
- Wood glue
You will also need:
- Pencil or pen
- Scissors
- Masking tape (optional)
Step 1- Trace and Cut:
Start by tracing the hat. Also trace the hat brim, which is part of the beard overlay. Trace on the reverse side of the paper.
Cut and set aside.
Step 2- Paint:
Paint the sides and back of the block green. Also paint the sides and back of the Leprechaun hat, and a little of the front.
Also paint the hat brim and the shamrock green.
Next paint the face peach and the beard orange. This is where you may want to use painters tape to tape off the green.
Step 3- Glue:
The last step is glueing it all together. Glue the traced paper onto the hat and brim, (make sure to paint the glue on the wood not the paper). Trim the black strip to fit and glue it over the green paper. Then glue the overlay and the nose in place. Finally glue the shamrock and place the eyes. The gems for the eyes are peel and stick.
Paint glue on the front of the block and place the print, smooth out any bubbles using a vinyl squeegee or a credit card.
That’s it! Cutest little Leprechaun ever!
